Gabiga Coffee Limited started in 2008 after buying a green bean coffee processing plant in Kainantu district, Eastern Highlands Province and the incorporation of the company came into effect on the 16th of February 2010. The company started processing green coffee beans and was selling to local exporters until 2010 when it was granted an export license by the Coffee Industry Corporation of Papua New Guinea.
Within the last ten (10) years, Gabiga Coffee Limited has become very successful, shipping more than 200 containers per annum. The company is gradually building up its capacities. We have constructed 2 x new factory buildings in Lae, purchased 80 hectares of coffee plantation in Goroka and a wet factory construction is in progress now and is scheduled to be completed in due course.
The company gained the reputation of the 4th highest exporter of green bean coffee the the year 2014, according to the CIC's coffee export statistics and the 1st Papua New Guinean to be among the other three (3) foreign owned companies. Green bean export business here in Papua New Guinea is dominated by foreign owned companies and Gabiga Coffee Limited is a 100% nationally owned company in the coffee export business.
